Beautiful and inspiring video. It shows how people can start to accept themselves even if society considers them as different. They are beautiful, gorgeous, attractive and faboulus in their own way.
It’s extraordinairy to see people be fine with how they really are, how they make the best out of it and how they manage to feel blessed.
But, it would have been great to see more different disabilities and aspects to have a more global point of view. I also feel like this video might romantizie disabilities in general, which can be problematic for some.
I would say the most impressive thing in that video is the fact that despite being disabled, you all have the same burning desire to say : ” Hey, I’m just doing fine “, and not giving up, that’s really really brave to do so .
It’s interesting how all of you have different disabilities but you all live like normal people ! We should all have a different perspective on you and not just think “Oh no he/she has a disability, that’s a poor person”, we need to think like you are a normal person ! It’s really incredible how this video can make us realize that you all want a normal life like us, and the society need to understand that with us. I hope this video will be spread around the world so everyone can treat you in the good way !
I’m very happy for these people, they don’t see their disability like something wrong. This video can show us how they live in their daily life. Disability can’t stop them to do something !
This video really raise awareness about the way society see disabled people and in fact how they see themselves, which is totally different! It makes us realize we have a objectified version of them when in reality they are just normal people with an ordinary life!
“different” is a word that stands out in the words spoken by the persons in this video that aims at promoting disabilities: but aren’t we all are different ? Here actually by “different”, I guess it is meant “different from the mainstream”, from what most of the people are like or from what they are expected to be like, but again what is that? What are most of the people like? Do you think that you match with all the qualities of “normality”?
Moreover, it seems obvious that everyone in the mainstream will say that we have to accept those people, but by saying so they might make it worse because, when you say something needs to be accepted it means that it could be “unaccepted” while that should just be, simply be. It should not be in a need of “acceptance” but in a need of “existence”.
The people in the video are just like us, mere humans. They have their insecurities and their source of pride, they worry about how they look, they dance, they laugh, they live ! There’s nothing heroic or exceptional about them, unless you think living your life is amazing, but then we’d all be heroes. Knowning their point of view helps to break stereotypes that can lead us to act or see them in a wrong way.
Great video, it’s really interesting to show how disabled people see themselves, the life they live and the difficulty they overcome. The only ick for me is maybe the lack of diversity, it would be even more interesting to see people with autism or down syndrome speak about their experiences. And help us to have a general view of each disability.
The people in this video are really confident and tell their story without fearing who they are.
They all see pretty positive and even joke about their disability, they give a powerful message to everybody and it is to love yourself no matter what, and truly accept who you are, because evryone is gorgeous in its own way.
It feels great to see people being positive and confident with their disability. Most of them decided to put foward their insecurities in order to deal with them. They learned to take a step back from their situation as we all should because in a way, we all are different.
It’s interesting to see how the video raises awareness about the fact that society objectifies disabled people whereas they are normal people, just like everyone else.
Boys and girls, you rock ! I could reckon how your testimonies are paramount for diseabled men and women that could feel either alone, either unsafe or even sad at the idea to live with a disability if they aren’t born with it. Beautiful message ! On the other hand, I have mixed feelings regarding diseabled people that are born with their disability… what I mean is that maybe these people need a sense of being as normal as undisabled people rather than make then absolutely different or special. Not only because other men and women could possess the same disability as them, but also because in my opinion, it won’t help these disabled people to feel integrated within the society if they’re considered as different forever. Objectifying disability cannot be the norm, whereas the change of mindset towards it, considering disability as really normal, would be the new hopeful norm.
I recognize that your speeches are obviously full of good intentions. I just wanted to give my personnal point of view about the disability’s recognition and by the way, to thank Stella Young that genuinely raised my awareness about the disabled people’s representation. Hope you’re soul’s in peace Stella !
it is an interesting video because it’s the people concerned by this subject and that live with a disability that talk and not a non-disabled people. It might help people to understand that they don’t need our pity and that they can feel offended when people talk to them like they are doing something really brave when in reality they just do normal things and they want to be seen like everyone and not just as disabled people. Moreover It help us to realise that unconsciously( or consciously) we can see a disability as a barrier of beauty. This difference shouldn’t strike us because we are all different.
This video leaves me speechless ! It’s touching video that shows us people with disabilities and how they feel confident with themselves.
For the society they aren’t like us and in this video they just want to show that nothing is impossible even if they are disabled they can do it. They can dance, they can be sexy and fabulous so they use their disabilities as a strength to be the better version of themselves.
We must stop treated them differently
This is really inspiring, these people have a lot of courage to talk about their disabilities in front of a camera. They seem to have accepted them aswell, i’m very happy for them, I hope they have good luck and live a long and blissful life.
